Biography

I am Jinxin Wang, a final-year PhD candidate at the Chinese University of Hong Kong fortunately advised by Prof. Anthony Man-Cho So. My research interest lies in 1. theoretical foundations of nonconvex optimization from data science (provable first-order methods for nonconvex statistical estimation) 2. computational aspects of large-scale optimization problems (algorithm design and convergence/complexity analysis). I am also interested in stochastic programming and get valuable advice from Prof. Huifu Xu.

Prior to joining CUHK, I obtained MPhil in Data Science (2017-2020) from Peking University fortunately supervised by Prof. Zaiwen Wen, and bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics (2013-2017; Loo-Keng Hua Elite Program) from Dalian University of Technology fortunately advised by Prof. Liwei Zhang. In addition, I was an exchange student (2016-2017) under the great supervision of Prof. Xin Liu at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and an intern in Didi Chuxing (2019; Mentor: Dr. Zhe Xu).
